ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant)
Ann has undertaken training to be an ELSA and will be able to provide help and support to children and young people identified as having emotional wellbeing needs.
An ELSA’s role is to help a child feel happy in school and at home, so that they are able to reach their potential in their learning and development. Sessions are planned to support pupils to develop new skills and coping strategies that allow them to manage social and emotional demands more effectively.
Sessions aim to be fun – a range of activities may be used such as: games, role-play with puppets or therapeutic activities.
The school recognises the importance of working in partnership with families and other professionals involved in supporting individuals. Ann will always work closely with parents and classroom staff when planning support.
