Family Support
Our Senior Leadership Team are committed to supporting families during their journey at Frederick Holmes, alongside our Child Protection Coordinator who is also an ELSA lead. We have several other staff members who are trained in other interventions such as Drawing and Talking.
If you are facing difficulties with any aspect of managing your child’s needs or need information about services and support available, please get in touch with a member of the team.
ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant)
An ELSA provides help and support to children and young people identified as having emotional wellbeing needs.
An ELSA’s role is to help a child feel happy in school and at home, so that they are able to reach their potential in their learning and development. Sessions are planned to support pupils to develop new skills and coping strategies that allow them to manage social and emotional demands more effectively.
Sessions aim to be fun – a range of activities may be used such as: games, role-play with puppets or therapeutic activities.
The school recognises the importance of working in partnership with families and other professionals involved in supporting individuals. We will always work closely with parents and classroom staff when planning support.
