Preparation for Adulthood (PfA) – A Priority for Hull!

If you are a parent/carer of a young person in Hull with SEND aged 14-25, you may have heard about Preparation for Adulthood (PfA)—but do you know what it actually involves?

Are you looking for support and information around the transition to adulthood?

Are you going through the process and would like to know more?

Can you share your experiences of what is happening in Hull?

Did you know that in Hull’s latest Ofsted Area SEND Inspection, Preparation for Adulthood (PfA) was identified as an area needing improvement?

We know that many families feel lost, confused, or unsupported when their young person reaches 14+ and starts the transition into adult life. We want to change this.

🚀 Hull Parent Carer Forum is starting a project to work alongside the Local Authority to improve PfA outcomes for young people with SEND.

📍 Our goals:

✅ Gather real time feedback – We need to understand where things work, where they don’t, and what you need.
✅ Share accessible resources and practical tools to empower families– So you know what should be happening in transition, opportunities for young people and how to access support.
✅ Find ways to support families – To help navigate PfA with confidence.

If you want to be involved, receive further info on PfA, or be personally reminded about our upcoming events:
