Across the school physical development is given high priority across all aspects of what we do. All students that require one are allocated a physiotherapist and a personalised physical management programme which is carried out by trained staff.
All students access Swimming which is taught based via the Halliwick concept. This holistic approach brings together knowledge about: the water and the body, teaching and learning, motivation, challenge, games and music, disability equality issues and swimming strokes. Swimmers are taught on a one-to-one ratio until complete independence is achieved, but each pair is a unit within a group activity so that the swimmer gains the advantage of group work but also gains from the constant attention of an individual instructor.
Our schools PE curriculum also ensures that your child engages in a form of physical activity that is appropriate to them once week on top of their swimming sessions and physical management programmes.
Students in our 14-19 setting also have access to Duke of Edinburgh which offers many opportunities to improve their physical skills in an area of sport or physical activity and plenty of opportunities to develop practical and social skills whilst exploring the school grounds and further afield.
