Children can attend Frederick Holmes School from 2 years.
Children who do attend from 2 years old join Nursery (Foundation 1). Children progress through the Foundation Stage (F1&2), following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Children and young people who are working below subject specific level follow a sensory curriculum that embeds the Engagement Model. Pupils follow the most appropriate curriculum, in order to meet their individual needs, as they progress through the school.
As students progress into Post 16, they may continue under the Engagement Model or develop a more specific range of independence and life skills, with both curriculums aimed at preparing young people for their Post 19 transition and adulthood.
Please note, all parents/ carers have the right to withdraw their child from any or all aspects of Religious Education, now taught as ‘Religion and Worldviews’. Please speak to your child’s class teacher or a member of the Senior Leadership Team if you would like to discuss this in more detail.
Our key planning documents, including subject specific progression documents and long term plans are available below. For more class specific medium and short term plans, please contact your child’s class teacher. Termly home activity ideas for each class are also published HERE. Due to the nature of our school, plans are adapted each time they are delivered, to meet the needs of the current cohort. As such, we do not have subject plans by year group, but progression is organised by developmental phase.
